Uh, yeah!!
But a lot of factors filter down through the jewelry business that may affect you. Or not. Rather than writing a narrative let me hit you with bullet points that you might find apply to you or someone you know.
Prices will go up. The U.S. relies on other countries to manufacture much of the jewelry you buy.
Wide spread jewelry manufacturing will NOT come back to the U.S. for many reasons.
As people who work see their wages go up and the products they make will also go up.
Some jewelers will sell some items for less and reduce their profits to bring customers in to buy.
The re-sell market is booming with online and bricks and mortar stores reselling quality items for far less than retail.
People will still want to get married and will buy diamond engagement rings. Two incomes are better than one!
Independent U.S. jewelers like Abby's have been and will continue to be very efficient in jewelry repair and custom designing, reducing prices to maintain sales and providing excellent customer service.
Accepting that so many products and services are now more costly is a hard thing to get used to. Thankfully in our economy we have many choices and we always can find a way to get what we want from sources that meet our needs.
